Ecosystem Structure · The Master Plan
The Ecosystem structures the masterplan — not the other way around.
Hakan is built upon a 600-hectare living laboratory where native forests, pristine rivers and biological corridors form the backbone of the territory. Preliminary land-use scenarios indicate a majority conservation-led landscape, subject to environmental, hydrological and municipal validation. This protected landscape is not a "buffer," but the primary infrastructure that ensures ecological connectivity, climate regulation and the long-term defensibility of our assets on the southern Nicoya Peninsula.
Key Highlights
- Regenerative Resilience — Assets are strategically sited within a conservation-led land matrix, shielding the community from climate risk while restoring local biodiversity, subject to environmental and hydrological validation.
- Bioclimatic Intelligence — Native forests and water systems create controlled microclimates, ensuring natural thermal comfort and reducing active energy needs.
- Circular Lifecycles — Water management goes beyond drainage; it is a circular system of rainwater harvesting, greywater reuse for smart farming and aquifer recharge.
- Evolved Daily Habits — Life is structured by the Sanctuary, where the rhythm of the forest and the flow of water guide movement, foster deep contemplation and catalyze community encounter.
